Chess Melody is an app for iPhone, iPad and Android that turns a chess game into music. By using it you agree to these terms.
There is nothing to register for and no credentials to keep safe. The app has no accounts, no sign-in and no subscription.
The app can import games from the public Lichess and Chess.com APIs. When you look up a username or a game, you remain responsible for using those platforms in line with their own terms.
The app turns a game into a melody and can export it as MIDI or as a
.yoh4 package. You may save, export, play and share the
melodies and files the app generates, including outside the app.
The mapping from moves to notes is deterministic — the same game always
produces the same melody — but it is an artistic interpretation, not an
analysis, and it is offered for enjoyment rather than for study.
The Chess Melody app, its name, its branding, its software and the composition logic that turns a game into music remain the property of the developer.
Chess Melody is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Chess.com, Lichess, or any chess organisation.
The app is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. Game imports depend on services the developer does not run, and those services can change, rate-limit or become unavailable at any time. Nothing here affects rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in, which cannot be signed away.
To the extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Where local consumer law sets a limit on how far liability can be excluded — as it does across the EU and the UK — that limit applies and this section does not override it.
These terms may be updated as the app changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
This does not take away protection you have where you live. If the law of your own country or state gives you consumer rights that cannot be waived by agreement — as the law of the European Union, the United Kingdom and many other places does — those rights continue to apply in full, and they prevail over this section wherever the two differ. Nothing here requires you to bring a claim somewhere your local law entitles you to bring it closer to home.
