Sh!t Now What? does not collect, store, transmit or share any personal data. The app has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no server. It makes no network requests of any kind and asks for no device permissions.

This is not a promise about intent. It is a description of what the software does: the app contains no networking code, declares no permissions, and includes no third-party analytics or advertising libraries.
When you save an incident, the app writes it to private storage inside its own sandbox. That file holds the checklist you chose, which steps you ticked, the date, and any notes you typed. Your app settings — theme, reduced motion, and whether you have accepted the first-launch disclaimer — are stored the same way.
This data never leaves your device. We cannot read it, recover it, or delete it for you. You can delete all of it at any time from Settings → Delete all saved incidents, and removing the app deletes it along with everything else in the app's storage.
On iOS the file is written with complete file protection, meaning it is encrypted at rest while the device is locked. On Android it is kept in the app's private files directory. Your device's own backup settings may include this data in a backup you control; that backup is between you and Apple or Google, and we have no access to it.
Some checklists offer two kinds of link, and both hand you over to another app or website. When you tap one, you leave Sh!t Now What? and that destination's own privacy policy applies:
We receive nothing back from these destinations. We have no way to know whether you tapped a link, which one, or what happened next.
Because the app is distributed through the App Store and Google Play, those companies collect information about downloads under their own policies, and may provide us with anonymous, aggregated statistics — for example, the number of installs in a country during a month. We never receive information that identifies you, and we cannot connect any of it to a person or a device.
The app is not directed at children and, because of its name, is rated for older users. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.
Data protection laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, and to object to its processing. Those rights apply to data a company holds about you.
We hold none, so there is nothing to request. The data the app creates is on your device and under your control: you can view it, edit it, and delete it in the app at any time. We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any.

If a future version of the app ever collects data, this policy will be updated before that version ships, the last-updated date at the top will change, and the change will be described here rather than quietly folded in. We would also expect the app's store privacy labels to change, which is visible to you before you update.
